software at a crossroads

Welcome

Hello, travelers! Welcome to the junction.

Work Zone

It's cliché, but true: the new site is very much under construction.

Civic Engineering

The main purpose of this site is to release various piles of code — working, tested software — which I've had kicking around for a while. Some freeware, some not.

In many cases this will be software that's been informally passed around Washington Apple Pi for a while, or has been deployed for some time on my personal machines. But it's high time some of this stuff reached a wider audience.

I'm a believer in open source software, and will be happy to share a lot of my code. Though I'd like to locate a reliable external Subversion server before getting too wrapped up in project management. It's not the sources that I'm stingy about, but rather my privacy and my time. Put simply: I'm shy, plus I'm frequently overextended just like everyone else. Some projects I just can't afford to properly support outside my own use or the Pi's.

Tourist Trap

A secondary purpose of the site is to gather together and possibly modernize a number of informal pages which I've strewn around various parcels of vanity web space since the early 90's. Wedding pictures, old camp photos, a few oddball experiments and kitschy running gags related to the Pi, that sort of thing. Hopefully I'll even close out my AOL namespace; it's been, lessee... six years since I did anything with that stuff? I can't believe I send them money.
